IthacaMusic.com - Plug in and Go

Where We've Been

Hi Friends!

We've been a little hidden these last couple of weeks, and we want to let you know what's been new and different.

First and foremost, we are officially settled into our new office!  Very exciting Laughing We've moved on up to a deluxe, erm, office above The State Theatre working with our good friends at Dan Smalls Presents.  There's much afoot for that connection, including our first co-promoted show, Keller Williams, who will return to The State on Sunday, March 29th.  Tickets are sale now, wink wink.  Don't miss the legendary one-man-band as he shreds his guitar to loop heaven.

We took a little time away from the site to get things situated with the big move, and we are certainly excited for the new adventures this will take us on from here.

Also, thanks to a generous donation, we were able to afford these awesome banners, so you'll see us around town a lot more now.  THANK YOU!

If you haven't noticed, the forums are up and running again.  It's totally free to use, and you can create a login on the left hand side.  The forums are easy to use and can be used for a wide variety of things.  We've setup a couple of sections already for you to blog about awesome shows you saw, to promote your band's upcoming shows, and to get excited about Grassroots.  You should totally write something on there, post some pics and videos from great shows, etc.  We really want to see that space become a place to share with the music community, so please give it a whirl!

2009 is off to a great start with so many incredible shows behind us already.  Mike Doughty, Enter The Haggis, Cowboy Junkies, Orchard Lounge, The Gunpoets, and just too many more to name.  Our events calendar is always up to date with the most comprehensive list of events in Ithaca, so please check that out as well, and if you need to send us any updates, changes or additions, please do so by sending us an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Keep checking back on a regular basis; we promise there's a lot more exciting stuff coming that we just can't tell you about right now Wink

We're looking for a few rockstars to help us make this website bigger.

Here's what we're looking for:

Website writers/editors
Photographers/videographers
People to work our tables at shows and events
Business Liasons
and people who just wanna have fun!

We need reliable people with good attitudes towards reaching goals.  Whether you're already a wiz in the local music scene, or are really curious to learn more and get your feet wet, we want you on the team.  There will definitely be some perks along the way, too, like free concerts and more!  For now, these are unpaid volunteer positions, but someday we hope to change that.

We look forward to working with you soon!

Stars - State Theatre - Feb. 6th

stars

This should be an excellent show.  For fans of indie rock and all things mystical, Stars is going to enchant The State Theatre with their beautiful imagery and soundscapes.  The show starts at 8 PM, tickets are on sale now.  This show is brought to you by Dan Smalls Presents, The Cornell Concert Commission, and The Ithaca Colege Bureau of Concerts.

2008 in Review

2008

What a year, right?

Since our launch in August, this site has grown and grown.  We've reached over 10,000 different individuals with over 100,000 hits.  We think that's pretty impressive for such a small, little city! Musicians and music lovers alike have finally found a place to get it all.  We're honored to be working with so many great people on this site.

Some notable people to thank include:
Will Russell - Owner of Wilburland Studios and our first contributor
Dan Smalls - From Dan Smalls Presents and a great concert promoter
Eliot Rich - Talent Buyer for Castaways
Phil Aubin - Manager of Castaways
Will Fox - PR for Castaways
Judy Hyman - The Horseflies
Elliot Martin - John Brown's Body
Russ Friedel - Manager for Jimkata and JATAS, and Hey Baby Entertainment
Chris Mazer - Talent Buyer for The Haunt
Liz Field - Black List Productions
Megan Romer - Grassroots/LIW/Ithaca Festival PR
Vicki Taylor - Downtown Ithaca Partnership
Lydia Dimitriadis - Proofreader/Editor
and of course Charlie Shew for making this site possible.
We hope we didn't forget anyone else, but if we did, thank you.
